Queries re: April Fools Day in October?

After all the hard work I have been putting in lately in order to turn Thomas Granger Day into a national holiday someone has apparently been able to turn October 9 into a kind of second April Fools Day without anyone noticing.  How did this happen? Is this now a national holiday?  Did the Pelosi gang manage to get a new holiday declared without C-Span watching--or did I just miss it? Have we abandoned Columbus Day, or are we supposed to just combine the two? Is someone implying that Columbus was a fool? Why not make it fall on a Monday, rather than interfere with all of the "casual" Fridays across the country?

But, wait a minute--If Al Gore can do it...
